Hearthstone Painting & Finishing Inc. is a family-owned and operated company founded by husband-and-wife team Valentin & Celeste Szoecs. For Valentin, painting is a family trade that began more than 20 years ago. The Szoecs family moved to Canada from Siklos, Hungary when Valentin was 12 years old, and within a year he began to work as an apprentice painter under his father, Simon. Over the decades that followed, Valentin developed his craft through hands-on experience in painting and finishing, culminating in Hearthstone as the continuation of the family trade.
Celeste was born and raised in the Okanagan and brings a complementary background in business, marketing, and accounting to Hearthstone. After five years working in marketing and digital content creation, she transitioned into accounting and finance, spending the following five years studying and working as an accountant in the residential development and construction industry in Kelowna.
At the heart of Hearthstone are the principles of Aiming Up, Reciprocity, and Competency. Valentin and Celeste’s vision is to build a company that continually aims higher—where excellence is pursued with humility, challenges inspire ingenuity, and success is shared with those who help create it.
